The Prep Checklist

A great toast is a calendar, not a talent. Here is the six-week version.

The takeaways
  • Start six weeks out. Four is the minimum where practice still changes anything
  • Write early, rehearse long. Most people invert this and polish sentences the room will never notice
  • Record every run-through on your phone. The camera catches what your memory edits out
  • Memorize four lines, not the whole speech: the opener, the direct address, the elder moment, the close
  • The wedding should be your easiest run-through, not your first

Six weeks out: gather

Five weeks out: write

Four weeks out: the first recording

Three weeks out: the memorize map

Two weeks out: pressure test

The final week

The night is not the performance. The night is the victory lap for the six weeks.

Every client gets coached on exactly this, with their own footage.
